What is Wellbeing?

Wellbeing is about being comfortable, healthy and happy. It is about being in tune with ourselves, with our environment and about making the most of all of life’s wonderful opportunities.

Some of us struggle to achieve these goals - we may not know where to go to get help or who to ask. But it's amazing to see just how much is out there already.

Opportunities come in all shapes & sizes. There are so many things you can do to stay fit, connect with other people and learn new skills.

Check out this video for a little bit of inspiration. Imagine what could be available in your region and how your community would benefit from a joined-up service.

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing

There are many ways to think about wellbeing. Organisations and charities often adopt the following 5 categories to help point you in the right direction.

| Connect | Learn | Be Active | Notice | Give |

The Possibilities are Endless

Whether it's knit-and-natter, a book club in the local cafe, or a local walking group, you'll find opportunities to develop your wellbeing in enjoyable and interesting ways.

With some guidance and navigation you can find what you need.

A New Option for GPs

GPs are starting to direct patients to community resources in greater numbers because they recognise them as alternatives to conventional treatments and medicines, as well as providing cost savings for the NHS.

Self-Care

Whether your GP referred you, or whether you signed up to an activity yourself, you are taking control of your own health and wellbeing. What matters most is being able to take the first step.

From the Medical Perspective

Using social prescriptions to harness community resources it is possible to help people with obesity, diabetes and many other chronic conditions.  Loneliness, anxiety and isolation are also conditions which benefit hugely from engagement with others.

New Ways to Wellbeing

Working with healthcare professionals we are creating new services to improve health outcomes and reduce demand on busy NHS services.  We are waiting to hear from you if you want to chat about ways in which ROVA can help your region.
